The BMW F 900 R features a 4-stroke engine with 2 cylinders, 4 valves per cylinder, and liquid cooling. The system offers 895cc (54.6 cubic inches), with a maximum power of 104 hp at 8,500 rpm, in addition to a maximum torque of 68 lb-ft.
Fuel management is handled by electronic injection, with a catalytic converter to reduce the emission of pollutants. The electrical system has a 416W alternator and a 12V battery.
The motorcycle clutch is a multi-disc in oil bath, and the transmission is six-speed. The front suspension is an inverted fork, while the rear is a cast aluminum swingarm.
